For Cara and Josh, this was especially true. We had the pleasure of shooting Josh, Cara, and her son Hunter at the Boca Raton Airport many months ago. We had a blast then, and their wedding day was just as fun. To see how happy Hunter was to watch his mom marry Josh was truly special. The Delray Beach Marriott played host to this lovely event, and as beautiful as the room, the flowers, and every thinkable detail was, the day really was about the emotion shared in this new family. Joy, laughter, and love were the focus of the day, and we are truly happy to have been a part of it. Mazel Tov!

Marni and John live and work in Manhattan, but chose to celebrate their wedding here in sunny FLA, and we are so glad they did. We, of course, had a ball traipsing around their Big Apple home turf for the engagement session. But, the wedding day was here in Florida in Marni’s hometown. There were so many beautiful moments throughout this day- it was hard to only choose a few. Letters of welcome, private laughs and smiles, so much dancing and fun- we really had such a wonderful time capturing all of it. Marni & John, we are so very happy for you, and wish you love and laughter for all the years to come!

Lauderdale, FL http://artessencestudio.com/blog/?p=1964 http://artessencestudio.com/blog/?p=1964#comments Thu, 25 Oct 2012 19:01:38 +0000 admin http://artessencestudio.com/blog/?p=1964 It’s been said that rain on a wedding day is good luck for the couple tying the knot… we certainly believe that to be the case for Martha and Mike, who were married on a very rainy afternoon in Ft. Lauderdale. In fact, we photographed Mike & Martha on another rainy day for their surfing adventure/engagement session, which, like their wedding day, was filled with laughter, and really epitomized what a couple in love looks like. The wedding day began with Mike having an old fashioned hot shave at Mankind, and Martha was the picture of calm and beauty as she prepared for the evening’s events. Martha & Mike chose Rabbi Frank, the same person who had married Mike’s father years before to preside over their nuptials, and he did it with such warmth and good humor that it left everyone in the room feeling the love. Once the celebration was underway, our gracious hosts decided to kick things up a notch with Brazilian drummers and dancers livening up the dance floor. It was a party that will not soon be forgotten, and we are so happy to have been able to share the day with this truly fantastic couple. Cheers!

But one thing is for sure, you know it when you see it. Rich and Althea’s love story captured our hearts right from the beginning. We told the story of their shared history with their Miami engagement session, and we knew that this wedding was going to be just as special. The day’s events took place at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa, and what a gorgeous setting it proved to be. But no matter how beautiful the setting, the overwhelmingly beautiful characteristic of this day was the warmth and joy that Rich and Althea’s friends and family brought to this celebration. This wedding was about the love of two people prevailing over time and distance, and the happiness they shared when they were finally able to come together as a couple and a family. Rich and Althea, we are so happy to have been part of this special time in your lives, and wish you happiness for all the years to come.

This city makes us feel like singing. But how can we resist? There’s inspiration everywhere. It also doesn’t hurt that we were working with a truly great couple who made the day fun from start to finish. Marni & John are getting married in Ft. Lauderdale this fall, but live in Manhattan. We thought that the only way to really do their engagement shoot justice was to romp around their home turf. We had a lot of ground to cover in one day, so we hired a driver for the afternoon, and rode around the city in style. We started at Marni & John’s apartment uptown, and then made our way to the financial district, the South Street Seaport, High Line Park, Bryant Park, and even Grand Central Station. Each location was better than the next, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful summer day in the City. Marni & John, thank you for a wonderful afternoon, and we can’t wait to see you on our home turf in September!

Cara and Josh wanted to include her son Hunter for their engagement session, and we all wanted to make sure that this precocious six year old had a good time. Hunter LOVES planes, and Cara thought that he would love to go explore the Boca Raton airport. Right she was… but gaining access to an airport is no easy feat these days. Not a problem for Cara, whose persistence and charm resulted in us being able to shoot all over the property, and even up in the air traffic control tower. The controllers were kind enough to give us a tour of the facility, and explain what they do to an enthralled Hunter (not to mention the rest of us). After the airport, we headed off to the beach, and then Mizner Park for a little relaxation, and of course, a great dinner at Uncle Julio’s. What a cool experience, and we’re so glad we got to share it with this great family.

After years of being apart while Stephen attended law school in Washington DC, and while Monique embarked upon her career here in Florida, this wedding was truly a celebration about coming together. The energy created by these two families becoming one lit up the room and pushed the party into the night. Monique’s excellent eye for design and detail was apparent thoughout the entire event. Stunningly original bridal bouquets were one of our personal favorite touches, as well as the gorgeous silver and white theme, accented with crystals in much of the decor. But nothing was more special than the way these two people make each other smile. The entire evening was filled with laughter and warmth… not to mention just a little bit of dancing. It was a wonderful wedding, and we were happy to be a part of it!

So off we went , along with 20 of their closest friends and family, for an amazing weekend at Secrets Silversands Resort in Cancun Mexico. The festivities started on Friday evening with a fantastic hibachi meal (yes, we flew all the way to Mexico for excellent Japanese food). Saturday got off to an early start with a gorgeous underwater couture session (more on that later…), and then an afternoon of pampering at the spa before the evening celebration began. There’s so much we could say about what a fantastic trip this was, how awesome Jenn, Phil, and their families are, and how gorgeous Cancun is… but we’ll let the pictures do the talking ;-) Stay tuned for a separate blog entry for our Saturday morning couture session!

Every year, about 16,000 photographers descend on Las Vegas for the annual Wedding and Portrait Photographer International (WPPI) convention. And each year, the party gets started with a really awesome kick-off program. This year, it was Photographers Ignite. Fifteen Photographers were selected to speak for five minutes each, and their mission was to enlighten, inspire, and entertain the over 3,000 people staring at the stage. We are so honored to have been included in this year’s line-up, along with: Vanessa Joy and Rob Adams, Joe Photo, Tracy and Dee, Matthew Kemmetmueller, Kirsten Lewis, Jennifer Emery, Cory Henry, Annemie Tonken, Wendy and Byron Roe, Doug Gordon, Skip Cohen, Tamara Lackey, Benjamin Edwards, and Jerry Ghionis. Below is a link to a facsimile of our presentation… we prepared this to help us practice for the main event. But we had so much fun doing it, we thought we might as well share it with our friends too. We hope you enjoy!
